Spring 2010

Time flies away and before you have time to think about that, you have not jumped since the end of March so it was time to start up again. Season preparations have gone smoothly and I have spent time useful to train on other things as ski jumping. During April and May, I have been on a trip to Egypt, we have been at Attitude Camp in Mysen and has already managed to complete two jump- meetings with the national team. Here is a short summary of what has happened:

Egypt

A delicious trip to Hurghada with Frederik and my family at the end of April. It was wonderful to get to warmer climates after the very cold winter we had here in Norway. We went to Luxor and visit Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings.I am so impressed with the many mysteries that exist in Egypt, and it is my holiday resort No. 1.I can not understand how they managed to build impressive buildings like the pyramids and all the insanely great temples of old-era Egypt. It's also impressive how they have adorned the enormous tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Imagine a whole little village of tombs there. Impressive. Me and Frederik also had taken some nice pictures of us down there. We hired a professional photographer and we are very pleased with the pictures taken:)

Attitude Camp at Mysen

We were summoned to a meeting in Mysen. I was pretty sure we should have evaluation meetings, and other types of meetings. But there I was wrong. New this year is that we girls will have many meetings with guys, something just is positive, so the guys were also at Camp Attitude. When we got there, we were taken watches and mobile phones from us.We were dressed in military clothes and were given a baguett and a chocolate that would last the first day. So we were driven far out into the woods and the mission was to find the way back. Not that we should go back, we were also handed out a stretcher and a pot of water that we should carry with us. It was a 5-hour long walking tour! When we came back we had to put up lavo, and where we should sleep. Fortunately, it was very nice weather with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures:) In the following two days we did many different tasks as a team, we were chased up at 6 in the morning and out for a run, we had to move the lavo-camp to another location and run in a gravel pit. We had noe idea how much time was or how long we had been doing the different activities. There were three hard days where we were put on the physical and psychological tests, but it was also fun to do something new and exciting.

Meetings in Oslo and Gjerpenkollen

We also already managed to have two meetings . At the first workshop, we trained at the Toppidrettssenteret and had agility tests. We also jumped one day at Gjerpenkollen. We jumped the first session on the K74, but it went so bad that we went down to the K35 in the second session. It was great fun:) New to the summer is that we should jump into small hills with childrens. So the meeting No. 2 was just jumping in the K35 with skis designed for children and they are 190 cm long. Normally I jump on the 238cm .. It was a little nervous to jump on so short skis, but it was also very educational and fun:)

COC Japan

It was very disappointing that I could not go east to represent Norway in the two COC competitions in Zao. Norges Skiforbund had decided that the best seniors, and the best junior can go, and when it was not me.Just as the situation was with Anette on 3rd place and me on the 4th Overall I thought it was a bit special decision. Had I been at a 10th place and no chance to jump up on me had it been okay .. But that situation is now so it may be difficult for me to defend the 4th place, for the night runs over there, I have now fallen down one place and is now at the 5th place. Since we seniors do not have a championship this season, it is the summary of the COC one must focus on. After steady good jumping in December and January, it was natural to focus on being No. 4 in the summary because I largely thought has been on this 4 place throughout the winter. It had been a good period for me after such a stable good season.

Still, there is no impossibility, but then I have to jump up against my best in Zakopane next weekend, something I should do. I love Zakopane and thought it's okay that we should end our COC there. So we'll see how it is in the summary at the end. I have at least big ambitions to do well in Zakopane:)

COC Ljubno

Finally back in Lillehammer after an ok, but also a little disappointing weekend in Slovenian Ljubno. The reason in Ljubno is a very special skijumping hill, so I'm in due delighted that I was able to jump fairly well on the skis. In training on Friday evening, I had a poor first jump, and a little over medium fine last jump. I'm fairly happy with the race on Saturday, I thought conducted smoothly with a 7th place. Sunday's races were not full so well. Had some good jumps in either the first or second round, so I was Nr. 11.

The hills I think is most difficult to jump in is now over, and now remains the only "normal" ski jumps. I lie still on the 4th Overall, when the remaining six races of the COC. The first two take place on already this weekend in the Austrian Villach. The last four competitionsare in the Japanese Zao and Zakopane in Poland in early March.

COC Schonach

COC in Schonach last weekend was very bad. I lay down on a 25.plass after the first round and it was near the point that I didnīt come with to the final round. What happened?

The easiest way to explain such a failure is that the first so it was given far too little speed in the first place (no jump over the K-point), and second, so I had most back-wind of all in the first round. That's why I jumped only 74 meters. I explain it this way, I need not to analyze and think through what I actually did wrong. The reason I "only" was Nr. 18 was the more dependent on external conditions (back-wind and low speed), and there is nothing i can do with that.

Therefore, I choose to continue in the same way free to correct my mistakes and hope that it will be given greater impetus to the next competitions .... Or not? The other way to explain my poor jumping on is to lay the blame on myself. It is a little heavier for the head and it requires a little more after work. It requires a lot more of me than to blame the conditions. But the genius to put the blame on myself is that I can do something with it.

I have not done anything with either wind conditions or speed, it is up to others to decide. But my jumping, it is only where I can do something with, in collaboration with my support. I have spent some time recently to find out what really went wrong. What was that in Schonach that made me jump 74 m in the first round and lay down on a 25th place?? I've been angry, indifferent, depressed, really angry, happy, sick of jumping to fight eagerly etc. Yes, the mood has been very up and down in recent days, and the motivation has not been on top.

I jumped two sessions in Lillehammer on Tuesday, and then went quite well. But I was not happy, because I still had not found out what I did wrong in Schonach. That's why I went to Raufoss last night, a quite similar hill to Schonach to see if I could find some answers. And I got an answer. I jumped just as bad in Raufoss as I did in Schnoach. Had my worst workout throughout the winter, but after the session I was quite happy! After a lengthy conversation with my coach after the session, we managed finally to find answers to what went wrong in Schonach. I spent almost a week to figure out why I landet at the top of the outrun in Schonach, instead to explain the bad location with the external conditions that are completely beyond my control. But I must say that it was worth it, for now I can work on tasks that are important, and that allows me to avoid such multiple failures. The motivation is back, and I look forward to tomorrow (Saturday) for when I work out at Lillehammer again. And now I know I'll be back in the next competitions, which is next weekend in Slovenian Ljubno, 6th and 7th February.

The best on all the blame for poor performance is that I can take all the glory for the good performance:) I do not have to say I got lucky with the conditions, I'm allowed to say that today I was able .... And when it feels a lot better than to think I was good because I got lucky.

It's about taking responsibility and to take himself in the neck to do something about the things I can do something, and forget about the second serve circumstances that I absolutely do not get affected in any degree. Line

Ending of Ladies Winter Tournee

I was Nr. 8 in the COC event in Schonach after having been on the 9th after the first. I was very disappointed because of my own performance because after training the day before I hung well with the lengths among the 4 best on all three jumps (2, 4 and 3 longest.) In the trial round I started where I stopped the day before, but then came the first round and then I failed a little. It was incredible disappointing. Although I jumped a good second jump, it was too difficult to jump very much up. Consequently I felt down to a 5th place summary at the Ladies Winter Tournee, "Four Hills", but there were just a few points up to a 3rd place.

In Braunlage was briefly summarized very windy. We had completed two training jumps friday morning, but then we would start the race immediately after, the wind had shown up, and it was impossible to jump more on this weekend.

Something I thought was very boring, for Friday's workout went very well for my part, with 3 longest jump in each round. I saw therefore that it was full as possible to jump up in the summary. Storm Daisy put a stop to it, and I ended on 5th place.

In the COC summary am I still on a 4 place . Next competition is in Schonach on Saturday 23th January. Now it is the time for some quality training in the days until that.

Happy New Year to all!

This weekend the continental cup season went on in Baiersbronn (Germany), HS 90. The new year started pretty well for me. In the official trial round I did the longest jump with 97 meters, only one meter shorter than hill record. This was a great jump. In the competition later that day I was in the 2nd place after the first round, but I became a bit too coltish and fell back. I ended up on a very good 4th place.

Sunday competition was affected by two good jumps and a 4th place in the end. My form finally starts to stabilize and I move closer to the three best girls Iraschko, Sagen and Grässler.

In the overall standings of the continental cup I was able to better myself up on a 4th place, in the hills tournament I? on a 3rd place after these two competitions. On Wednesday there will be another race in Schonach. I'm looking forward to that. :)

There was Christmas break over the for this year.

Fredrik and I have celebrated with my family in Vikersund. As you can see in the picture, was there a of lot of snow. It was snowing steadily in one day, which meant that we had to dig out our Rexton from the snow. Or, we dug not so much, we gas out of the snowdrift. If you drive 4WD, you donīt have to dig.

Although it is Christmas, we are not free from the skijumping. We jumped a good session in Vikersund on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday there will be two days of jumping in Lillehammer, before I take the trip down on the continent to compete a little again. The first competition is Saturday, 2nd January, which means I have to celebrate New Year's Eve in Baiersbronn. There are two competitions in Baiersbronn, one in Schonach and two in Braunlage next weekend again. The five events is the girls response to "Four Hills Tournament". Iīm looking forward to it.

COC Notodden

On friday and saturday was the continental-cup been hold in Notodden (Norway). It was a nice norwegian winter with cold weather down to -16°C during fridayīs competition. The skijumping hill was in a perfect condition with a tramtrack and a perfect preparated outrun. Better conditions for ski jumping are hard to find. Thursday's training went very well for my part, and I showed that I am the good kind when I, respectively, were 2nd and 4th in length with two good jumps of 93 meters.

Friday started well with an approved trialround with 92 meters, but then came the first failure in this season. I lost 8 meters in the first round and lay down on the 10th place after the first round. Second round was a little better and I jumped me up to a very disappointing 9th place.

In Saturday's competition was back where I should be in the trial round with 89.5 meters and third best length, but the first round was a repeat of yesterday's failure. In a very steady flowing race with many who jumped well, I laid down on a 15th place after the first round with 89 meters. Second round was significantly better where I laid on to 92.5 meters and had the 4th best jump in this round. So I jumped up 7 places, ending finally at an approved 8th place.

In summary I jumped one place down when the american Sarah Hendrickson passed by me after two good competitions for her part. After the first six contests will I take a well deserved Christmas break with a 5th place in summary . The girl who had the best start this winter is no doubt austrian Daniela Iraschko with four total superior victories in the last four contests. I have only praise for her insanely good jumping.

The competitions are starting again on 2nd january with the girls' answer to the Four Hills Tournament. 2nd and 3rd january is the continental-Cup in Baiersbronn, 6th anuary is one competition in Schonach before the jumping week ends with two contests in Braunlage 9th and 10th January.

Merry Christmas!

There was winter season going on. After 4 competitions am I at the 4th place in summary. I came on a good way with a 3rd plae in the first competition in Rovaniemi in Finland (08.12.09). In the second competition was I again on a 3rd place after the first round but I lost 5 meters so I ended until finish at a nice 7th place.

So the tour was going on to my homeground in Vikersund where I grown up. Unfortunately I jumped no official training friday, because we arrived from Finland on thursday without baggage which didn't got the plane in Helsinki.

So I perfomed a trainingsjump at the trial on saturday. After the first round I was on the 2nd place but I wasn't so eager in the second round sO I lost 4m and ended up at a little bit annoying 7th place. In sundays competition I was on a 7th place after first round, but then I jumpeed better in second round so I jumped up until a very good 4th place. :)

So all in all am I really satisfied with season opening. Now keep the tour going on to Oslo tomorrow to have some physical tests before I take a short trip home to Lillehammer for some days. Then I set out again for new competitions in Notodden (Norway) at friday and saturday.
